Selection Guidelines

The 2010 School Sport Australia Boys and Girls Triathlon Championship will be held in Adelaide, South Australia March 16^th – 19th 2010.

SELECTION PROCESS

· Athletes must be enrolled at a Victorian school affiliated with either the VSSSA (secondary student) or the VPSSA (primary student).

· Athletes must submit a Nomination Form to be considered for selection.

There will be 3 selection races from Xosize Tri series – races1, 2 and: 3

Date Venue Distances

08-Nov-09 Brighton 500/20/5 & 250/10/2

06-Dec-09 Sandringham 500/20/5 & 250/10/2

17-Jan-10 Mordialloc 250/10/2.5(x2) & 250/10/2

· Each athlete’s best two race finishes will be considered.

· If two athletes are tied on points then their result at the December 7^th event will be used to separate them.

· Points gained will be used as a guide by the selectors; however, other aspects will be taken into consideration:

· Athletes unable to compete in trials because they are competing in triathlon events of a higher standing on the same day will have their results in the alternative event considered when VSSSA State selection is made. Contact the VSSSA, prior to such events, if consideration is anticipated.

· The 17-19 age group events are draft legal. Athletes must have gained Draft Racing Endorsement prior to entering these events.

· A maximum of 6 athletes will be selected in each section:

Boys 14 Girls 14 - (* Equivalent to the Triathlon Victoria 12-13 age group.)

Boys 16 Girls 16 - (* Equivalent to the Triathlon Victoria 14-15 age group.)

Boys 19 Girls 19 - (* Equivalent to the Triathlon Victoria 16-18 age group.)

Ages for the School Sport Australia 2010 Championships are taken as the athlete’s age at December 31^st 2010. (i.e. the age that the athlete turns during 2010)

For ‘14’ age group events students must turn 13 or 14 in the year of competition.
